A year later!

Life got crazy right after my last blog post almost a year ago. I broke my arm 4 days before we were leaving for vacation where we were celebrating Miss Sassy's third birthday. I spent a lovely 9 days in a tropical paradise in an oxycodone and Captain Morgan induced haze, and an arm in a cast from my fingertips to my shoulder, meaning I couldn't swim. Then I spent the next 4 months going to physical therapy. It was fantastic! We survived Hurricane Sandy with no damage at our house, but we did have a family member lose their house, so we spent some time helping her clean up her life.

Anyway. Sassy is almost 4! I can't believe how time has flown. She cracks me up daily. We have real conversations. She has thoughts, and ideas, opinions, and Big Plans. When you ask her what she's going to be when she grows up, her answer is "Four." Well, ok then! She's regressed a bit in the potty training in the last two months, usually being too involved in playing to be bothered to go potty, resulting in an accident. She's also not night trained. Ugh. Ugh x a million. But, she's nowhere near ready. She wakes up every morning with a very full, soaking wet diaper.

She went to half day nursery school three days a week this past year, and every day tells me how much she misses it. We loved the school she was at, but they don't offer full day pre-K, and she's very ready for that. Even the teachers and school director said she's ready for full day, and are sad to see her leave, but it's what she needs. The Free (Universal) Pre-K system here is awful, and we weren't accepted into any of them, so she'll be going to private school. I'm very disappointed. It's a drive away from our house, and since we made the decision to send her there, we've had to get rid of our car. I could walk to the school, but Sassy would be whining half way there, so that's not going to happen twice a day, five days a week. We'll figure something out.

Here she is on the day of her nursery school graduation two weeks ago...
